Designer, Katie Kovas lends her collaborative solutions to businesses in the luxury market by elevating brands, products, and experiences – including flagship boutiques, beauty startups, fine artists, fashion and interior designers and florists.
KOVAS X works with primary vendors in Manhattan, Brooklyn and Austin, TX. Katie built her business from her 9 years of retail experience in the NYC area, most notably from her time as Senior Sales Supervisor and Visual Merchandising Ambassador at Byredo. She lead the local sales team, assisted and expanded the marketing efforts, designing strategies to launch product around 3 flagships and 5 wholesale accounts.
Her love of developing B2B partnerships, growing the client loyalty programs and implementing New York specific visuals has led her to offer the same luxury specific experiences to every client in her portfolio.
Specializes in creating personalized bespoke swimwear and collaborative experiences. Each collection is a quest to celebrate the past, future and now while embracing slow fashion with a multi-disciplinary approach. Exploring new techniques such as data-moshing and glitching every creation is a one-of-a-kind wearable piece of art.
Her tutelage under the likes of Moe Brooker, Heather Ujii and Bob the “datamosher” paved the way to her discovery of pixel manipulation and applying those techniques to fabric. These practices led Kovas to contemplate technology as a metamorphic force — which in a duet with swimwear design, extend the forms of the human body. Engineering distortion to historical content, she transforms personal moments into digitalized landscapes on spandex. Pixels evolve into liquescent shapes and intricate patterns, sculpting graceful silhouettes that reflect the body's myriad of movements in the water, lounging on the beach, and even on the dance floor.
Designs are thoughtfully produced by hand in Brooklyn, New York and all materials are sourced within the United States.
