What is Datamoshing?

Datamoshing is the process of manipulating data to achieve visual effects such as glitching, blooming and repeating. Using compressed video or photo files, i-frames and d-frames are purposely and specifically “destroyed” corrupting the pixel information and creating layers of glitches. We describe this technique as watercoloring with pixels.

I-frames are essentially a complete image of a video frame, whereas d-frames determine where pixels from an i-frame need to move to. If the d-frames are distorted, or if the i-frames get removed, the pixels onscreen will move in extremely glitchy ways.

This results in what we call datamoshing.

Overproduction in fashion is one of the world’s biggest environmental threats. We refuse to make that problem worse. Our pre-order system allows us to accurately anticipate demand levels prior to production, so we only produce the amount of fabric we’re really going to sell.

For you, this means participating in the movement towards more sustainable fashion. In terms of pricing, on-demand reverts the sales cycle and waves goodbye to the traditional fashion calendar.

You have one week to pre-order with 15% discount once the collection goes live, after which the amount of time it will take to produce will increase. We calculate exactly how many units of each new style should be produced and begin manufacturing. The longer you wait, the longer it will take to arrive. It's that simple.

Our brand is all about creating wearable memories that are tailored to your specific needs and preferences. When you place an order with us, we start the process of creating your swimwear piece immediately using your *personal measurements. You can always choose CUSTOM sizing at no additional price. Our team of designers and seamstresses carefully craft each swimsuit by hand, paying close attention to the smallest details provided in the *instructions at checkout.

Local production

Since the 2014 launch, our collections have been designed and produced in Brooklyn, NY. Over the years, we have built meaningful relationships with our production teams in North Carolina and California to consistently improve the quality of our materials.

Producing locally ensures a lower carbon footprint, regular visits to manufacturing facilities to ensure prime labor conditions, and in our case, careful waste management by trusted eco-conscious partners. The handpicked providers we work with include transparent fabric recycling and reuse services.
